Device Creation

Create a device in an account using Devices API.

Inputs

  • SerialNumber, Model, and Manufacturer are the mandatory fields for creating a device. The combination of these fields must be unique for a device.
  • Optionally, device can be configured with SKU. The combination of SerialNumber and SKU must be unique for a device. The SKU’s validity is enforced through a weekly sync from Oracle to IAM.
  • Optionally, PublicKey can be configured for devices which require Bootstrap worfklow.

Authorization

  • Authorization in IAM operates within an account context. Account owners(subjects onboarded through the Onboarding process) will have comprehensive set of permissions to create, update, read and delete devices under their account.
  • By default, the device will be created in the account of the calling subject, unless overriden by the ‘accountId’ query parameter, in which case the subject should have necessary permissions on the overriden account.
  • All the users belonging to the account will have limited permissions to read the devices belonging to the their account.
  • All devices will have limited permissions to read its own details(/devices/me using GET API)
