Identity Federation

Identity Federation allows a Trimble enterprise customer to utilize their own identity system to authenticate their users.

Federation is a type of secure sign in where a user’s authentication is trusted across organizations. More specifically, one Identity Provider trusts the authentication of user by another Identity Provider. Using federated identities provides valuable workflows such as:

  • Using Single Sign-On (SSO) so that users need to sign-in less
  • ‘Just-in-Time’ user provisioning to reduce manual provisioning
  • Increased control over security policies such as Multi-Factor Authentication

Federation is recommended for enterprise-level customers that desire more control over their users’ sign in security or policies.
