Events overview

License and entitlement events are now available and consumable in Entitlement v4. Businesses track their products and customer licenses, subscriptions, and usage. Businesses also send communications to customers based on changes in entitlements or licenses. These triggers can include events such as creating and assigning licenses, modifying or updating licensing, or revoking or canceling licensing and entitlement.

Entitlement and licensing events may also require integrators to take action to maintain entitlement or licensing data for the business and the customers.

Entitlement v4 integrators can subscribe to license and entitlement events in Staging to develop their integration plans. There are two common application use cases for subscription to events:

  • Customer communications on entitlement and licensing changes
  • Synchronization with other systems storing entitlement and licensing information.

The two types of events available for Entitlement v4 are Entitlement Events and License Events.

Integrators can consume events via either the WebSocket or [REST (HTTP) API protocol. The Events Service WebSocket SDK is only available in .NET, Java, and Python.
