Device Bootstrap v1

When you create a device in Profiles, you can set up a device with or without a certificate. Device certificates issued by Trimble Cloud Core CA are valid for three years only. When they expire your device will no longer be able to connect to Trimble IoT Gateway or Trimble Identity. Trimble IoT provides an API to generate and manage operational device X509 certificates.

The Device Bootstrap v1 API can be used for managing certificates issued by Trimble Cloud Core CA only.

Reasons for initiating Trimble Cloud Core CA certification renewal :

  • Setting up certificate for the first time.
  • The existing certificate has expired or is about to expire.
  • You want to replace the lost certificate.

The Device Bootstrap helps you build a powerful device-booting workflow to detect certificates that are approaching expiry and automate certification renewal on the first power-on.

!!!Note Bootstrap v1 is for devices managed in Profiles. For Devices managed in IAM, refer to Bootstrap v2
