Overview of Entitlement v3

Entitlement v3 (Entitlements, or EMS) acts as a bridge between all Trimble Business by creating a unified view of Trimble products for customers. Entitlement v3 utilizes Trimble Identity as a gateway to connect users to their licensed products and services. Entitlement v3 helps answer the questions:

  • What licenses does someone own?

  • Who has the rights to which products or services?

  • What is the duration of ownership for the licenses?

  • How many licenses are assigned to users or devices?

Products, Features, and License Models

Entitlement v3 uses Trimble Identity as the source for licensing end-users products and services. The flow from purchase to usage includes creating, activating, and assigning a user’s license through the Entitlement v3 system.

Products are packages built-in SafeNet out of features created by product teams. Each product is enforced with a license model, either perpetual or subscription, and Entitlement v3 communicates licenses, activations, and end-users information to the product.

Product teams set up products before Entitlement v3 can be engaged. Before this process can begin, SKUs must be set up. SKUs can be set up by reaching out to the Engagement team via their Entitlement Part Request Template.
